Welcome to Pawsitively Feral!

Pawsitively Feral is a locally based 501(c)(3) organization that assists and

educates the residents of Leyden and Proviso Township in IL with

trap-neuter-return (TNR) and the care of the many feral cats residing in the

area.

There are many cats and kittens living and breeding freely outside in our

community. To help control this cycle of cats living on the streets, Cook

County encourages the use of Trap Neuter Return. This method is widely considered to be

the most humane and effective method of controlling the free-roaming cat

populations. TNR was legalized in Cook County through its “Managed Care

of Feral Cats” ordinance.

TNR reduces many of the cat mating behaviors that are problematic such

as yowling, fighting, and urine spraying. Returning cats after TNR allows them to maintain their territory,

which prevents even more cats from moving to the area through “the vacuum effect”. TNR’d cats colonies offer the added benefit of effective rodent control without the use of poisons or traps.
